I enjoy communicating through the written word. I write everyday; whether it be for academic purposes or not. I find inspiration for both of these forms of writing everywhere. I would like to share my inspiration and writing with you.

Creating Your Blog

Blogs are abundant today.  There are blogs from just about anyone on subject matters that range from one’s children and family to career and academic prowess.  While there seem to be no guidelines as to who can create a blog or what their subject matter is there are guidelines as to the effectiveness of a blog.
Guidelines to blogs are minimal.  While the purpose to a blog may depend upon the blog’s creator there are guidelines regarding design, content, and audience.  Design is essential; there are several different guidelines to the design of a blog: keep the structure of the blog obvious, balance the page with different elements, use color wisely and do not be afraid of white, use small details to make the blog stand apart from others, and keep the blog functional (Martin, 2007).  The previous guidelines concerning design should serve any blog creator well.  Some of the design guidelines could be for content as well.  It is good to keep functionality and balance in mind in regards to content.  The content should serve the audience or reader.  The audience should dictate the design, content, and purpose to some degree.
There are guidelines to creating a blog besides letting creative instincts run free.  Design guidelines should be kept in mind when creating a blog.  Guidelines concerning content and audience are important when creating a blog.  Blogs are many now and keeping one’s blog in the forefront or reader’s minds can be easy if one keeps them in mind when managing design content, structure, and design.

Positive Inspiration

Positive inspiration can be found in those we encounter. It can be found in their eyes, heard in their stories, and seen in their faces. Michael J. Fox is one such person that inspires countless people. The following peek into his book and life is just a fragment of inspiration that this man exudes.

At the turn from our bedroom into the hallway, there is an old full-length mirror in a wooden frame. I can't help but catch a glimpse of myself as I pass. Turning fully toward the glass, I consider what I see. This reflected version of myself, wet, shaking, rumpled, pinched and slightly stooped, would be alarming we...re it not for the self-satisfied expression pasted across my face. I would ask the obvious question, "What are you smiling about?" but I already know the answer: "It just gets better from here." - Michael J. Fox (from his book Always Looking Up)
