I enjoy communicating through the written word. I write everyday; whether it be for academic purposes or not. I find inspiration for both of these forms of writing everywhere. I would like to share my inspiration and writing with you.

Briefly Real

Realism is one of the older philosophies which regard nature/the physical and the perception of such as relevant .  Unlike other theories that have a foundation in God.  I chose this philosophy because while the ideas and the mind are capable of vast amounts of potential, I do believe that items such as the moon, universe, and whatnot exist whether we perceive them to or not.

It would be unwise to not mention Aristotle when discussing Realism.  Aristotle was not only a pupil of Plato but also is described as the father of realism.  Aristotle believed that:

  • …reality, knowledge, and value exist independent of  the mind
  • that an items existence is not predicated by our ideas
  • knowledge can be acquired through the senses
  • the first step to understanding the physical world is to obtain knowledge.

These four beliefs of Aristotle’s are essential to understanding how he understood realism to be.  I personally agree with all of the four previous elements to Aristotle’s Realism.  I also think that this can be directly applied to different teaching situations.  For example, obtaining knowledge through the senses is done both consciously and unconsciously on a daily basis.  Many different teachers and curriculums use this idea to teach in the classroom.  We are taught about our senses in the classroom and how to use them.  We are then constantly using them throughout our educational careers and after.

Environment Series Part II Coming Soon

The environment that surrounds us influences our communication.  Not only do our immediate surroundings dictate the medium, fluency, and type of communications that we engage in, but the world environment does as well.
The environment not only dictates our communication but can also be the subject of communication.  In recent decades the environment has been the subject of volumes upon volumes of communications.  I have contributed my own small share of communications on the environment, its health, and different ways humans can help.
The small contributions that I have made are some of what I feel to be my best communications.  I would like to share some of my finer communications on environment with others.  Therefore I have been compiling such communications into the Environment Series.  I have added Part I of the series and Part II is coming soon!  Be on the lookout for Environment Series Part II!

Positive Inspiration

Positive inspiration can be found in those we encounter. It can be found in their eyes, heard in their stories, and seen in their faces. Michael J. Fox is one such person that inspires countless people. The following peek into his book and life is just a fragment of inspiration that this man exudes.

At the turn from our bedroom into the hallway, there is an old full-length mirror in a wooden frame. I can't help but catch a glimpse of myself as I pass. Turning fully toward the glass, I consider what I see. This reflected version of myself, wet, shaking, rumpled, pinched and slightly stooped, would be alarming we...re it not for the self-satisfied expression pasted across my face. I would ask the obvious question, "What are you smiling about?" but I already know the answer: "It just gets better from here." - Michael J. Fox (from his book Always Looking Up)
